Trauma, surgery, and inflammatory responses create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressure of approximately 2,000 pounds per square inch on pain sensitive structures that do not
show up in any of the standard tests (x-rays, myelograms, MRI's, CAT scans, electromyography, etc.) This enormous pressure acts as a straightjacket on muscles, nerves, blood vessels and osseous
structures producing the symptoms of pain, headaches and restriction of motion.
The John F. Barnes’ Myofascial Release Approach® consists of the gentle application of sustained pressure into fascial restrictions within the body. This essential “time element”
has to do with the viscous flow and the piezoelectric phenomenon: a low load (gentle pressure) applied slowly will allow a viscoelastic medium (fascia) to elongate.
John F. Barnes, PT is the leader and expert in the field of Myofascial Release. He has trained over 100,000 physicians and therapists. His knowledge, experience and ability to teach this remarkable
and highly successful treatment is unmatched.
All of the Myofascial Release Seminars consist of a comprehensive and fascinating lecture portion and a minimum of 70% hands-on workshop time. Allowing ample time to practice and perform the
techniques. Attending therapists will partner up with another therapist and will get the chance to perform the techniques taught along with being the recipient/patient. Understanding what the
technique is supposed to feel like is an invaluable tool. On-going, in-depth verbal instruction from our instructors regarding hand placement, pressure to be applied, amount of time to hold the
technique, and therapist's body mechanics will be taught. Therapists will be well-versed on how to perform a multitude of techniques and can immediately apply in their own clinical setting.
